“Yes. JCA will follow the three-term calendar.”

Under Department of Education (DepEd) order No. 9, series 2026, Ms. Marife Jagto, the Assistant Principal of Academics and Admission, confirmed on May 12 that JCSGO Christian Academy (JCA) will implement the three-term calendar for the school year 2026–2027, marking a change in the institution’s academic system.

Ms. Jagto noted that the implementation will only apply to Early Childhood Education (ECE), Grade School, and Junior High School departments, adding that JCA chose to adapt to the new learning setup despite private schools having the option not to follow the system.

The goal of the three-term calendar is to address learning gaps, increased teaching workload, and reduced learning engagement among vulnerable learners by dividing the academic year into three terms, while retaining the subjects, standards, and number of school days.

As stated in the DepEd order, there will be an 8–10-day end-of-term block, wherein the block will serve as time for grade computations, parent-teacher conferences, and report card distributions for teachers, and co-curricular and extracurricular activities, including wellness breaks for students.

“Kumpara last year, mas ma-le-lessen ang work ng teachers sa paggawa ng exam kasi tatlong beses na lang ang examination. Lessons can be taught well because of enough instructional weeks,” she stated.

Ms. Jagto also added that they aligned the curriculum with public schools, following the same schedule and system to ensure that, in cases of transfer students, there will be no hassle in the recording of grades, attendance, and reports.

“Mahirap ‘yon pag hindi tayo sumabay. Sa ibang schools, nakasulat sa LIS (Learner Information System) na three-term calendar, tayo hindi,” Ms. Jagto explained, concerning the DepEd’s non-aligned database between schools that implemented the three-term calendar and schools that didn’t adhere.

Acknowledging the possibility of a big change in the school’s calendar, she emphasized that they will continue to retain the school’s Christian culture, discipline, and the enforcement of sanctions, and help improve the mental health of students.
