As part of the Sci-Math Month celebration, students from both the Grade School and Junior High School departments used their voices and ideas to explore real-world science issues during the Sci-Talk competitions on November 13, 2025, at the audio-visual room.
Aligned with this year’s theme, “Harnessing the Unknown: Powering the Future Through Science, Mathematics and Innovation,” the Sci-Talk events encouraged learners to think critically about how science and innovation can help address national and global challenges.
Participants from Grades 9 and 10 delivered five-minute prepared speeches that connected scientific concepts to everyday realities, while Grade School students took the stage with their impromptu speeches.
Seth Magaña, one of the contestants from Grade 10 – Glorious, shared that he wanted to highlight how academic issues affect Filipino students.
“My speech’s main goal is to inform them how bad the curriculum and contemporary issues make it almost impossible to move up the PISA ranks.”
Meanwhile, for Railey Dela Cruz of Grade 5, it motivated them to grow in understanding math and science.
The winners of the Grade School Sci-Talk will be announced during the next Chapel Service at the Seed Dome, closing this year’s celebration of scientific thinking, creativity, and student voice.
