JCA’s Senior High School (SHS) Department opened the “Word of the Champions” competition on September 12, 2025, at the Audio-Visual Room through an oral spelling contest to highlight students’ language skills.
Facilitating the contest were Mr. Miguel Perada, who served as the word master and facilitator, and Ms. Cyrel Tajanlangit-Gemeniano, as the time keeper who handled the technical aspects and recorded the scores.
The event opened with a congratulatory message from Mr. Miguel Perada for the participants who advanced to the finals.
The contest consisted of three rounds—easy, moderate, and hard—where participants held flags and raced to spell the given words, featuring oral spelling and vocabulary challenges.
A tiebreaker was later held between Chase Joshua C. Estrella of Grade 11 Shiloh and Jess Matusalem of Grade 11 Elyon.
“The part of the contest that I find most challenging is racing to raise the flag to spell the word that the facilitator gave because my opponents were faster than me,” said Chase Joshua C. Estrella of Grade 11 Shiloh.
