Resurgence of Sportsfest in JCA Grade School
by Clark Matthew Bandril
JCA Grade School’s annual sportsfest returned in-person on February 23 — three years after restrictions and uncertainties brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event began with a torch relay led by selected pupils in grades 4 to 6, followed by a devotion led by Teacher Nieva Jean, and concluded with the ground rules.
Both students and teachers were thrilled about the event, as it allowed them to showcase their physical abilities through strategic actions.
The event provided students with a break from the monotonous activities of their classes.
It also paved the way for students and teachers to make new memories and bond with one another outside of the confines of the classroom.
Basketball and tug-of-war were the most anticipated events, especially since teachers participated in the tug-of-war to add to the excitement in the air.
The main objective of this event was to promote cooperation, engagement, and fun among the students through games such as ping-pong relay, pass the action, modified volleyball, dodgeball, and many more.
“Of course, it is indeed a success because the objectives of the activity were achieved, and with God’s grace and mercy, He was able to give us success,” said Ms. Sheryln Estrella Serrano, regarding the event’s outcome.
The winners will be announced on March 22, following the students’ chapel service.
