Meet the JCA Swimming Sensation
Patrick Anthony Vidal is JCA’s Swimming Sensation.
This graduating elementary school student typically swims for at least a couple of hours on a daily basis. At his age, his dedication and discipline are noteworthy. No wonder, this swimming superstar is amassing brilliant feats.
His journey as a competitive swimmer began when he was about six years of age. His parents enrolled him in a swimming class for the sake of just learning the basic and be water safe. His trainer eventually saw his potential and encouraged him to undergo training. “It all just started from there. I was eight years old when I first competed in a swim meet. At first, mahirap pero ngayon na-eenjoy ko na”, recalled Patrick.
Since then, he has earned the fruits of his hard work, commitment and love for swimming. In fact, he has gained more than a hundred medals and trophies throughout his student-athlete journey.
“I thank God that I got qualified and will be competing in Palarong Pambasa. Isa po ito sa mga pangarap ko!”, Vidal shared excitedly.
Recently, he and his teammates bagged the gold in 4×50 medley relay, three silver medals in the 50m butterfly, 50m breaststroke, 4 x 100 medley relay, and a bronze in the 50m freestyle in which secured them a spot in the national competition. As of writing, Patrick is set to compete in two major swimming competitions: Batang Pinoy 2019 Luzon Qualifying Leg on March 17 to 23 and Palarong Pambansa which will be held in Davao City on April 27 to May 4.
Alongside with his trainer, Coach Rommel Solita, Patrick is training hard to swim even faster, aiming to beat his personal best and hit the qualifying time for major swimming leagues. He is hoping and praying for a big win.
The whole JCA community is cheering him on.
