As part of the English Month celebration, Junior High School students showcased their literary and performance skills in the Spoken Poetry contest on September 16, at the audio-visual room.
The competition began with Grades 7 and 8 at 9:00 AM, where participants impressed the audience with creative, heartfelt, and thought-provoking pieces.
The order of performances was determined by a drawlot system, with each contestant presenting an original piece reflecting distinct perspectives.
Grades 9 and 10 followed at 10:00 AM, as they also delivered performances with added depth and intensity.
Serving as judges were Ms. Dahlia Nazareno, Ms. Crishelle Estanislao, and Ms. Sherlyn Serrano served as judges, evaluating the contestants based on content, delivery, and impact.
“Before, I used to see English Month as just another academic celebration filled with speeches and competitions. But by actually participating, I realized it’s not only about winning—it’s about how you express yourself and share things creatively,” said Princess Balanga, one of the Grade 10 contestants.
The competition served as a platform to promote literary appreciation and inspire students to express ideas creatively, linking personal experiences to broader themes.
Through varied themes and delivery, the contest concluded by affirming spoken poetry as a platform for both individuality and shared reflection.
