Who’s JCA’s youngest delegate this year?
| Nicola De Guzman
Have you heard about the youngest delegate of JCSGO Christian Academy (JCA) for the Press Conference this year? It is none other than Reine Julianna U. Depra.
She has been a student of JCSGO Christian Academy (JCA) for nine years. Reine joined Ignite during sixth grade—one year later, at just twelve years old, she became the Associate Editor of Ignite for the school year 2025-2026.
On October 11, 2025, she competed in the Science Writing of the long-awaited District 3 Division Enhancement Training and Press Conference. It was her first time joining a journalism contest beyond the walls of JCA. Despite the challenges, intimidation, and pressure as a first-time participant, she qualified for the Division Level, placing 18th among more than twenty competitors. “It felt very unreal,” she shared.
Her success reflected the countless hours, the different topics she practiced writing about, like a soldier prepared for battle. Reine stated, “I practiced writing leads, full articles, and read some science articles to prepare.”
Alongside her efforts was the inspiration of her brother, Rodge Depra, Ignite’s former Layout Editor. “I’m so grateful to my family, mentors, and friends for guiding me and cheering me on. And special thanks to my brother—his support has made a huge difference in my journey,” Reine declared with a happy heart.
However, now that she has stepped into a new chapter of her life, stopping is not an option. “My goal is to continue moving forward and to improve my writing,” she shared. For her, growth only comes when you step out of your comfort zone—you may win or lose, but those experiences teach you something more valuable than medals or certificates. They teach you patience, appreciation for the little things, and perseverance.
Her journey is not a secret to be kept, but a story to be shared. The Grade seven student who once went to school like any other now holds a title, an achievement, an experience, and a memory that will forever stay in her heart. And so, to people, students, and dreamers like Reine, she shares this message:
“Believe in yourself and don’t be afraid to try. Even if you’re young or inexperienced, your dedication, curiosity, and practice can take you far.”
