The JCA Women’s Volleyball Team (WVT) didn’t lose its composure; it sought vengeance after dropping its first game in the Inter-School Academic and Athletic League (ISAAL).
The school’s WVT shook off its first-game jitters and edged out St. Francis Technology Institution in a seesaw 21-25, 25-22, 28-26 victory at the Kings Montessori School on November 5.
Down 16-20 in the final set, team captain Ashleigh Villanueva revived the team’s spirit by scoring three consecutive aces, closing the gap to 19-20.
Spiking to the fullest with the outside hitters, Loraine Somera and Ashleigh Villanueva, and setting with accuracy, Eurisse Relevante, together with their teammates.
The team locked in as the scores kept tying, trying to reduce the error and look for an open spot to drop the ball on the other side to turn the deuce game into a hard-earned victory, ending the game with an ace, 28-26.
With Sports Coordinator Ms. Faye Binasoy’s words of wisdom and Assistant Coach Sam Acuña, the WVT bounced back in its second game of the day after learning from its mistakes against Jesus Is Lord Colleges Foundation, Inc., hours earlier.
“Kung ano ‘yung mga mistakes na ginawa namin before sa last game, nagiging lesson siya for us na ma-correct namin for upcoming games, tas inaapply namin kung ano ‘yung mga natutunan namin kay coach sa mga training namin,” Villanueva stated.
She added that as the WVT’s captain, she encouraged them to communicate more effectively on and off the court.
The WVT is preparing for its next game on November 16 against Riveridge School Inc.
