JCA Women’s Volleyball Team ends Itam Invitationals ’23 stint on a high note

In a riveting conclusion to their season, JCA Women’s Volleyball team secured a victory against Saint Theresa’s College Quezon City (STCQC), 25-15, 23-25, 15-11, during the 12th Itam Invitational Sportsfest 2023 at the Far Eastern University Institute of Technology Gymnasium last March 2.

From the initial whistle, the ladies in blue-and-white took control of the game with a relentless barrage of attacks, complemented by stellar service aces from Stella Cortez and Atheena Penales.

Despite some late errors exploited by STCQC in the first set, JCA secured an early advantage with a 25-15 victory.

Building on their impactful opening set, JCA displayed unwavering consistency in the early stages of the second set. However, STCQC, capitalizing on the momentum and delivering service aces, managed to level the sets at 1-1.

JCA changed their momentum by bringing back the six initial players, which proved effective as Alex Mallari’s service aces and Cortez’s powerful attacks fueled an impressive 7-0 run.

Following the change of courts and with both teams locked in a sudden-death situation, JCA emerged triumphant,15-11.

Cortez claimed the title of Player of the Game, showcasing her prowess with 11 attacks and three service aces. Penales contributed 11 points, while Jenny Reblando added seven points.
