
JCA secures Bronze in AAPS 19U with Victory over SHSQC

JCSGO Christian Academy’s (JCA) Women’s Volleyball Team outlasted the School of Holy Spirit, Quezon City (SHSQC) in blowout fashion, 19-25, 25-10, 25-13, to take the bronze medal in the Athletic Association of Private Schools (AAPS) 19-Under at Capitol Hills Christian School last February 24.
Both teams went head-to-head in the first set, but SHSQC quickly gained momentum, finishing strong with a 10-2 run to claim the set 25-19.
JCA responded strongly in the second set with a 4-0 run to start, dominating SHSQC with a 14-3 run, highlighted by Alex Mallari’s seven straight service aces, ending the set 25-10.
In the third set, the girls in blue extended their lead to 10 points at one stage, ultimately securing the bronze with a 25-13 victory.
Stella Cortez led the squad with 15 points, nine attacks and five aces. Mallari contributed 12 points, including nine aces and three attacks. Atheena Penales also reached double digits with 10 points, followed by Jenny Reblando with eight.
