JCA IS NOW A “SAFE ZONE”
By Xedryl Mae Escobar
JCSGO Christian Academy introduced its Safe Zone Project last August 17.
The school launched it with the desire to make a welcoming environment for the student body and make the school a place where students can all feel safe in sharing about themselves.
“It can be an avenue where everyone is encouraged to express themselves without any fear of judgment”, referring to the said program by Sheila Padilla, School Guidance Counselor.
It was initiated among Senior High School students and is slowly being introduced to lower levels such as Junior High School and Grade School.
The only rule is confidentiality. If ever students share anything to their teachers or school guidance counselor, it will not be disclosed to anyone and will be kept private.
Students can reach out by using any online communication applications although scheduled meetings are done via Google Meet. Teachers and advisers may intervene, give advice, or correct the students when necessary.
“There’s a room for mistakes, there’s a room for corrections and there’s a room specifically for improvement” said by Fredinel Arellano, the Academic Coordinator of the SHS Department and the proponent of this project.
The SAFE ZONE project is one of the guidance and counselling services made available and accessible to all students.
Aside from this, JCA also considers the much needed social and emotional well-being of students during this time of pandemic. Students may set an appointment with the guidance counselor by requesting an online scheduled session through the student services menu on the school website.
