JCA Goes the Distance!

Given the current public health situation brought by COVID-19, majority of the academic institutions, including JCSGO Christian Academy, have shifted into various learning delivery methods.

JCA Administrators took great strides in transitioning the school to Distance Learning. Distance Learning is simply defined as a mode of instruction where there is no face-to-face interaction between the teacher and the student. Lessons are held in virtual classrooms and through digital tools while adapting a synchronous or asynchronous study time for the students. Synchronous learning takes place when all the students learn together at the same time through real-time lectures via video conference. Asynchronous learning, on the other hand, is when students are provided with learning materials in the form of study guides, recorded lectures, and are asked to accomplish tasks within a given schedule.

For this school year, this means that there will be NO face-to-face or in-person interaction between students and teachers for the first to third grading period. Physical attendance in school for co-curricular activities may take place in the fourth grading period as long as permitted by the government and is safe for the students. Early Childhood Education pupils will have real-time lectures on a daily basis and with printed worksheets to be picked-up and submitted by parents weekly.

The idea of distance learning is quite a big shift in the JCA community but the school administrators and academic leaders are keen into pushing its boundaries to continuously provide quality Christian education despite the challenges. The curriculum have undergone redesigning, teachers have been equipped and the facilities have been upgraded to meet today’s challenge to the educational sector.

“This is our new normal. We live in interesting times now. But I remain confident that God knows what he is doing, and that he is with us.“, said by school principal, Ms. Cynthia C. Genon.

The school remains committed in providing an educational experience that fosters academic excellence and character development among the students.

To prepare the students and their parents for the new normal in JCA, a distance learning orientation with virtual class simulation will take place on August 3 to 7. Classes will officially start on August 17, 2020.
