Honoring excellence and dedication, the JCSGO Christian Academy (JCA) Alumni Organization capped off their Intramurals ‘25 with a championship match and awarding ceremony, recognizing utmost skills and team sportsmanship, on March 3 at the Seed Dome.
In a breathtaking see-saw match for the finals badge, Hopepai kept their lead until the end, edging out Kingdom Ballers, 79-78, wrapping up the basketball tournament with heads held high.
School Principal Mrs. Cynthia Genon, and Alumni Sir. William Kaiyl Chiu serenaded the chosen teams with special awards, appreciating their respected behavior.
The Sportsmanship Award was presented to Kingdom Ballers, Hopepai nailed the Fair Play Award, and the Most Disciplined Teams went to JWalkers.
The alumni hailed as the mythical five comprised of Marlou Dequito from JWalkers, Charles Ustare of Kingdom Ballers, Kobe Rizano of Team Jonas, John Genon of Hopepai, and Miguel Magwali from 26Bet, who were given medals and certificates to appreciate their shared efforts and participation.
Teams were recognized for their podium finish, with Team Jonas nicking third place, followed by Kingdom Ballers, who claimed the second place, and crowned as champions were Hopepai, with Finals Most Valuable Player, John Genon, who bolstered 18 points, six boards, and two steals, leaving the court with a dominant display.
“The Alumni Basketball Tournament was a fulfilling experience, bringing alumni together through sports and camaraderie. Organizing the event had its challenges, but with the help of our team, student council, and volunteers, everything came together smoothly. Seeing the passion, sportsmanship, and unity among participants made all the effort worthwhile. I’m grateful to everyone who contributed, and I look forward to more events that strengthen our JCA family bond,” shared the Acting President of the Alumni Association Ms. Aaliyah Vien Mangindra.
“My goal for the next Alumni Intramurals is to expand the sports categories and make the event more inclusive for all alumni. If we hold it again next year, I plan to improve game formats, enhance coordination, and establish a more organized system. Ultimately, I want to strengthen the alumni community through sports and make these tournaments a tradition to look forward to.”
