In another intense face-off, the JCSGO Christian Academy (JCA) Men’s Volleyball Team successfully turned the tables and outplayed the School of St. Anthony Quezon City (SSAQC) in 2-1 sets, 25-21, 25-22, during their second game in the Athletic Association of Private Schools (AAPS) Unit Meet at Capitol Hills Christian School last January 18.
Undeterred by a close defeat in the first set, the promising squad, led by top scorer Kent Traboco, showcased an outstanding performance in set two, securing a 10-3 run, bolstered by Daniel Sunga’s back-to-back service aces.
The surge in momentum allowed JCA to take control of the set, with Sunga and Marc Jagto contributing significantly by scoring three and four points, respectively, which thwarted SSAQC’s attempts at a comeback.
Buoyed by their comeback in the previous set, the final set began with a thrilling consecutive point exchange.
The momentum shifted decisively to JCA’s favor when Traboco unleashed four powerful attacks, propelling them to a 5-1 run with Sunga’s game-clinching block to seal their first victory in the AAPS Unit Meet.
Team captain Traboco finished the game with 11 points, supported by double-digit contributions from Sunga with 10 attacks and five blocks, along with Jagto’s massive impact with five attacks and three aces, securing the hard-fought win for JCA.
