The JCA Basketball and Volleyball Team has further intensified its preparations for the upcoming tournaments for the 2026-2027 school year, following the official welcome of its coaching staff, who are expected to bring renewed energy, discipline, and excellence to the team.

The players and school officials welcomed the arrival of the new coach, whose goal is to further develop the abilities of every student-athlete. The administration believes that through proper training and effective guidance, the team’s unity and confidence will be strengthened.

“Start from scratch. Mahaba ang proseso ng pagre-rebuild ng isang team at hindi ito agad nagbubunga,” said volleyball head coach Jeric Bellen.

“Kailangan ang disiplina, dedikasyon, at commitment—mga pagpapahalagang dapat isabuhay ng bawat manlalaro sa kabila ng mga hamon sa pagbabalanse ng pag-aaral at pagsasanay,” he added.

Belen also said that they’ll value team chemistry while implementing a new system.

Also, he emphasized the importance of quick reactions and easy on- and off-court transitions, and a strong fighting spirit, whatever the situation. The team’s success as a group requires a positive and flexible mindset above all else, according to him.

Meanwhile, the Men’s Basketball Team is in intensive preparation to continue its rebuilding process under the guidance of Head Coach Gerard Alejo. The team will focus on enhancing the players’ core skills and progressively developing a competitive lineup for the upcoming tournaments.

“Actually, this is a rebuilding team. We’re focusing on the younger players. I’m trying to develop their fundamental skills, kasi mga raw talent pa talaga itong mga players natin,” Alejo said.

“Supporters should not expect immediate success for the team as it is expected to encounter challenges and struggles in progress in the rebuilding process,” Alejo noted.

On the other hand, the new coach’s goal is not only to win but also to develop athletes who show discipline, dedication, and strong values as players.

Alejo also aims to grow sportsmanship, responsibility, and unity within the team, both on and off the court.
