FROM PLAYTIME TO GAME TIME: ECE Sportsfest in full swing
| Elyssa Flores
When the whistle blew on February 19, 2026, the Seed Dome erupted. ECE students ran, jumped, and cheered their way through a Sportsfest that combined friendly rivalry, big energy, and even bigger smiles.
Little feet carried big ambitions across the field as games unfolded. Transfer Ball tested balance, Tossing the Balloon demanded patience, and Thread Mill with Tic-Tac-Toe challenged both speed and strategy, proving young athletes can focus while smiling and cheering.
Strength became a lesson in teamwork during the Tug of War events. Kids pulled with surprising resolve, while Ring Relays and the Longest Human Line highlighted cooperation, reminding everyone that winning relies on coordination, not just raw power.
Parents added another spark by stepping off the sidelines to run, compete, and laugh alongside the children. From games to the Parents Eating Relay, they modeled teamwork, confidence, and sportsmanship while keeping the spirit of fun alive.
The Cheer Contest echoed through the dome, with parents leading the yell presentation while kids sang along. Adults set the rhythm and energy, and the children followed with pride, turning cheers into a shared celebration of enthusiasm and team spirit.
Dads dribbled, ran, and shot during basketball, closing the day with fast breaks and friendly rivalries. Focus and coordination shone as kids gave their all, making every pass and shot a testament to youthful energy and teamwork.
Scores revealed consistent effort across events: Green Team topped with 73 points, Yellow followed with 61, Orange had 60, and Blue earned 56, reflecting teamwork, creativity, and persistence rather than single-event victories.
Beyond the numbers, the Sportsfest taught lessons in collaboration, confidence, and healthy competitiveness. Children learned to strive, parents inspired by example, and everyone witnessed the joy that comes from giving their best together.
The day ended on a high note, filled with laughter, cheers, and applause. ECE students proved that even at a young age, competitiveness, determination, and teamwork can transform a sports day into a memorable, spirited celebration.
