Small Acts, Big Impact: ECE students provide aid in Barangay Tagumpay
The DO20 program showed that compassion can be taught and put into practice even at a young age, where, through the simplest acts of listening and giving.
Early Childhood Education (ECE) students assisted residents in Barangay Tagumpay, Cubao, Quezon City, on January 12, understanding the importance of empathy, sharing, and community service.
The first part of the project started with the students directly interacting with the community members by asking about their current situation and what their needs are, with the help of ECE teachers Ms. Liza Reyes and Ms. Abelyn Sikat.
This is an important beginning where the students get an idea of the situation the community is in, ensuring the service provided is relevant.
The ECE students were then able to distribute the food packets and essential items according to the needs discussed during their conversations.
The program not only provided aid to poverty-stricken families but also planted early lessons on kindness and social responsibility, showing that small hands and caring hearts can do the changing.
“At a young age, dapat turuan natin silang magka-empatya at maging malasakit sa kapwa, upang lumaki silang may puso sa pagtulong at respeto sa kanilang komunidad,” Ms. Reyes stated.
The residents and representatives of the barangays showed their appreciation for the genuine efforts and thoughtful act of the students, noting that the activity was personal and special because the community was heard for their needs.
