| Jihanna Rose Javier
Advocating balanced nutrition through the “Go, Grow, Glow” slogan, Senior High School (SHS) students participated in the Nutri Cook Fest on July 29, at JCSGO Christian Academy’s (JCA) Cookery Lab.
The event included six groups from each section, showcasing culinary skills by creating healthy, low-calorie, full-course meals.
Vherylle Palecpec of 12-Elohim valued the importance of nutrition in the fest, noting that it’s essential to carefully consider the nutrient content of each ingredient to create a healthy and balanced dish.
Each group presented their meals, explaining their calorie count, ingredients, and dietary components, before the judges’ taste test.
12-Jireh had its Japanese-inspired food with a touch of Filipino cuisine, followed by 12-Elohim’s Hawaiian-style meal, 11-Elyon’s refreshing “Tropical Garden Feast”, 11-Shammah’s sweet desserts and proteins, 11-Shalom’s “Vegetable Fiesta Carnival,” and 11-Shiloh’s nutritious meal with chicken breasts, drinks, and veggies.
Guest judge Mrs. Eizza De Baron, along with Technology Livelihood Education (TLE) Head Sir Sam Soliven and TLE teacher Sir Stanley Robinson, offered insightful questions and evaluated the contestants’ presentations.
“From what I’ve seen today, I’m very proud of everyone for taking some thought in creating their dishes and their concepts. Kudos to the teachers for teaching them well.” Mrs. De Baron said.
