A Leader’s Journey: Serving with Faith, Hope, and Purpose for the Future

A Leader’s Journey: Serving with Faith, Hope, and Purpose for the Future

What is a leader? There are many definitions of leadership, but for me, a leader is not just someone who leads. A true leader is driven by the right motivation and creates a positive impact on the people around them. They should also serve as a role model for their fellow students.

I have been a student leader since Grade 1, serving as Vice President, and later as President in Grades 4 and 5. I am proud to say that I was able to lead my section well, and we received many awards.

When the filing for candidacy started, many people asked if I wanted to run for SPG President. At first, my answer was no. I was confused—half of me believed I could do it, while the other half was uncertain. My adviser and one of my teachers talked to me, assuring me that I had what it takes to be the SPG President. I also consulted my brother and my parents, and they told me to follow what my heart truly desired. That was when my favorite Bible verse, Deuteronomy 31:6 —”Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you”—came to mind. So, I decided to file my candidacy and began my campaign.

During the campaign period, I remember a teacher asking one of her students who they planned to vote for. The student answered, “Ate Reine, because she’s beautiful and her hair smells nice.” I couldn’t help but smile because, well—that was me! But at that moment, I also realized that young students often focus more on physical appearance rather than a candidate’s platform. Despite that, I remained determined and pushed forward.

Now, as I conclude my term as your SPG President, I am filled with gratitude and pride for everything we have accomplished together as a team. Looking back at our achievements, I am proud to say that we were able to help students showcase their talents and improve themselves through the projects and activities we organized this year.

These accomplishments would not have been possible without the dedication of my fellow SPG officers, the support of our teachers, our principal, Ms. Cynthia Genon, and most importantly—you, the student body. Your active participation played a huge role in the success of our initiatives.

I would also like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to Sir Sundae Burce for writing my recommendation letter and for believing in my ability to take on this role. To my mentor, Ms. Kristine Cruzado—thank you for always being there to support us, for your guidance, and for your words of encouragement.

As I step down, I am confident that the next set of leaders will continue to build upon the foundation we have established. I encourage everyone to support them with the same energy and commitment you have given me.

Thank you all for entrusting me with the opportunity to serve as your SPG President for the school year 2024-2025. It has been an honor and a privilege to represent and work alongside such an inspiring group of individuals.

Thank you, and may God bless us all.
