After almost a decade, JCA brought back its ‘Family Fun Run’ and sports day with students, teachers, alumni, parents and staffs, bearing the theme, “Faith and Fitness” today, Febuary 18 at the Marikina Sports Center.
The event began with an inspiring message from
Pastor Joshua Sebastian, sharing the word of God aligned with the program’s core, then followed by Mr. Amado Sabangan’s opening prayer to officially start the torch bearing ceremony, which was passed around the oval by students from Early Childhood Education (ECE) to the Senior High School (SHS).
Excitement filled the air as students took off in the track where ECE department was first to set foot to the race, followed by the Grade School department, the Junior High School department, the SHS department, and a special batch of runners, featuring the teachers, alumni and parents.
After the Fun Run, students from the ECE to the SHS department participated in a class contest featuring fun and exciting mini-games that fostered teamwork and sportsmanship among participants.
The event concluded with the awarding of the top 10 finishers of each department—honoring their participation and effort throughout the race.
School Principal Mrs. Cynthia Genon shared her thoughts with Ignite, after finishing a succesful return on the track, “After seven years since 2013, yun ang huling fun run namin as a whole school, pero hindi pa dito sa Marikina. Syempre, it makes me happy and fulfilled kasi nakita yung health and wellness advocacy ng school. Also, nakita natin in harmony lahat ng pamilya ng JCA—physically active at naka-smile pa rin kahit pagod. Nahiwalay din yung students sa gadgets, and this serves as bonding na rin with the family and the whole community.” She then added, “Kaya special thanks to our committee at organizers kasi nakita natin na possible pala ang ganitong event.”
