SHS STMML Month: A recap of intelligence and creativity

Senior High School Department (SHS) brought their Science, Technology, Mathematics and Multimedia Literacy (STMML) month to a successful close with a culminating activity held at the Central Hall on Friday, November 29.

With the theme “Bridging the Gap: Media and Information as a Tool for STEM Innovation,” the culminating event began with a warm welcoming remarks from Ms. Trishia Mae Mendoza and Ms. Mary Rose Alvarez STMML month organizers.

Before the culmination, each section showcased their final prototypes at the STEM Fair. Representatives from each section presented and demonstrated their innovative prototypes to a panel of judges, composed of Ms. Angel Rose Raya, Mr. Eugene Puzon and Engr. Raffy Garcia.

Awardees of other contests were also celebrated, starting with champions Marc Jagto of 12 Elohim and Marguelle Asuncion of 11 Shiloh for traditional and digital categories respectively of the Visual Representation contest. Dharylle Yasay of 12 Elohim for Lab Wizards and Jared Jacob Macalanda of 11 Shiloh for Human Jungle Vines claimed the title of champions.

Group categories were awarded next with 12 Elohim for STeM Olympiad; 12 Jireh for the Podcast highlighting STEM Misconceptions.

11 Shalom were crowned both in STeMazing Race: Human Snakes and Ladders Edition and the PSA contest, as two short intermission numbers were performed by Bianca Ysabel Del Rio and the SHS Praise Team.

Additionally, 12 Jireh reigned as winners of Best Research Paper, Best Exhibit, Best Presenter, Best Prototype, as well as overall champion with 12 Elohim winning the People’s Choice Award in the STeM Fair.

After the film screenings, the awards for Short Film Competition were acclaimed with 11 Elyon’s Gerald Bailon and Bianca Ysabel Del Rio for Best Actor and Actress.

11 Shalom emerged victorious once more for Best in Film Editing, Best Picture, and champions for their film “A Trace of Water.”

The event was wrapped up with a final awarding of the Best Dressed for the afternoon, with Mark Prinzy Visaya for Best Dressed Male, Bianca Ysabel Del Rio for Best Dressed Female.

As the event reached its conclusion, Ms. Mae Mendoza shared an appreciative comment about the success of the said month, “This month has been a challenging yet fulfilling journey for both me and Miss Mary Rose. Without the unwavering support of our department head, co-teachers, Multimedia team, Spectrum and Math Club, this event wouldn’t have been the success that it was. Of course, we would also like to [also] extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the participants who actively joined [and] contributed in making this celebration meaningful. Thank you, everyone, for making this journey worthwhile.”
