As part of the Science-Mathematics Month activities, students from the Grade School (GS) and Junior High School (JHS) departments faced off in the much-anticipated Math Quiz Bee on November 6 at the Grade School Library.
The finalists had already showcased exceptional mathematical skills in earlier rounds, which helped them advance to the finals. Each section in the Grade School sent three participants, while the Junior High School department selected its top ten contenders per grade level.
Questions were categorized into three rounds: easy, average, and difficult, where participants had to answer each question within a specific time frame, ranging from 15 to 30 seconds, depending on the problem’s difficulty.
One of the finalists, Jamela Aguirre of 6- Purity, expressed her emotions after the event, “It was really nerve-wracking for me because it was the finals. I thank God always because I didn’t even expect to win. I was really anxious, but it was a very fun experience. It felt like I went through all the old lessons I learned over the years again.”
This competition highlighted students’ mathematical knowledge, and the winners were recognized at the end of the event.
