JCA BVT bags first ITAMS win behind Soriano, Sunga’s stellar performance

JCSGO Christian Academy’s Boys Volleyball Team (BVT) crushed Dominican School Manila (DSM), 25-9, 25-11, for their first win in the 13th Itam Invitational Sportsfest (ITAMS) on September 15, at the FEU R. Papa Gymnasium.

Charles Soriano kickstarted the onslaught as he scored back-to-back aces which boosted a 6-0 early run for JCA.

The early momentum allowed the team to dominate the match with key contributions from Aikee Azares and Marc Jagto, as they closed out the first set 25-9.

Coach RJ Austria made key adjustments for the second set, focusing on reducing errors and ramping up service aces that bolstered a perfect set for the squad in white and blue.

Following their dominant win in the first set, the team increased their tempo in the second set, racing ahead with an impressive 9-0 run and leaving DSM in the dust.

Dharylle Yasay handled the team’s forefront with receptions and excellent digs in each possession, creating opportunities for the team to attack.

Daniel Sunga also stepped up late in the game, contributing four consecutive attacks that fueled a 5-0 run. With the team’s consistent performance, Wendell Dakis, with four aces, sealed the victory in the second set, 25-11.

Soriano spearheaded the team’s win with his nine points, two attacks, and seven back-to-back aces that bolstered a fashionable win for Coach RJ Austria’s crew.
